Spanish property sales spring into life…
By Sue Brown, 18 May 2008
The Spanish Property Market has seen the best sales levels in April 2008 for over a year, as a new surge of bargain hunting buyers enters the fray, according to one 30 year real estate veteran.
Following media coverage of the failing property market during 2007, most potential property buyers put their plans onto ice until the situation improved, says Cordoba-based specialist, Philip Booker.
Now the shrewd investor sees the decline as an opportunity to secure a dream home at a much reduced price and 2008 has brought a new perspective back into the property market. Month on month the buyers have been coming back. Estate agents are beginning to see a new surge of property buyers.
April 2008 has seen the best month in property sales in Spain for almost a year. This confidence can be expected to multiply as the season for visiting Spain arrives during May and the summer season.
Leading bargain resale and “must sell” property specialist website, PropertyInSpain.Net also report increased interest from genuine buyers keen to grab a bargain home in popular Costa resorts. The firm produces a daily online showcase of the best bargains and this is attracting inquiries for viewings within hours.
Sales manager, Ben Walker revealed: “Sales are beginning to increase and we have viewings booked right through to the end of August already as buyers return. The hot spots are Costa Blanca and Ibiza where PropertyInSpain.Net is the leading sector source for bargains with excellent below market value deals and attractive mortgages.”
The firm claims its 15% to 50% Grab a Bargain discounts are seen by shrewd buyers as compensation for the decline in the Pound and against the Euro. Some properties, being sold in Sterling, are expected to overcome the strength of the Euro.
Mid 2007 saw the exchange rate for the Euro at 1.48 to the pound. Today the rate at 1.24 equates to a drop of 24,000 euros for each 100,000 euros exchanged.
